Nerikomi Mug with Green Handle

$65

A playful one-of-a-kind mug intended to make you smile while you’re drinking coffee. It was made using techniques inspired by traditional Japanese nerikomi. It was handbuilt combining layers of stained stoneware, then fired to cone 6 and glazed with a clear gloss on the outside, and a glossy black interior. I personally prefer my coffee in a mug with a white interior, but I have it on good authority that not everyone thinks like I do. Food safe and dishwasher safe.

Measures 5.5 in wide (including handle), 3.25 in wide in diameter at the opening, and 3.25 in tall.

Holds about 8 oz of liquid.

There are a few tiny, slightly rough spots on the inside of the handle on this one — better for gripping your mug!

Currently only shipping to the US and Canada.

I make sculptures, drawings, photographs, and performances while contemplating how intimacy, risk, and harm inform habits of care. I am interested in how care-taking happens relative to capitalism's devaluation of reproductive labor. I began working this way when I became a divorced mother of two and in turn became dependent on queer family structures for support. Born and raised in South Carolina, I have lived in Baltimore for over 20 years.

I am currently working towards a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy at Notre Dame of Maryland University, and make ceramic wares in my shed studio.
